Reinforce letter-writing skills with this Great Idea from the TCT archives

A fun way I have for teaching students how to write friendly letters is to tell them that they will be writing love letters.

In groups, they brainstorm lists of things that go together: pencil and paper, peanut butter and jelly, and so on. Then they write to and from those things.

For example:

Dear Paper,
I need you when I want to write my thoughts. Without you I can’t put my words down.
Your friend,
Pencil
