Enlist volunteers to teach life skills, from the TCT archives
Each spring, with the help of volunteer parents and grandparents, I teach my fourth-grade students how to sew pillows. I cut the fabric beforehand and supply plenty of needles, thread, and stuffing. I set up a working table for the volunteers so they are comfortable and easily accessible to provide one-on-one instruction.
For students and volunteers alike, it has been a win-win situation.
