Great Ideas: “Novel” Novel Studies

To focus on such gospel values as self-discipline, compassion, integrity, etc., in my language arts classes, students complete projects after reading each novel. A newspaper from the time of Around the World in Eighty Days highlights the gospel values of the main characters in articles and ads. Debates are conducted to argue for or against the gospel values of main characters in Treasure Island. Pip and Miss Havisham from Great Expectations are put on trial for their possession or lack of gospel
