Looking for a role model to inspire students? Here’s how one school uses the saints.
In an attempt to build strong leadership skills, primary teachers at Villa Maria Academy prepared the following project.
Each month a saint is selected (women saints since Villa is an all-girls’ academy). At an assembly, students learn about the saint’s life, virtues, qualities of leadership, and strengths.
Afterwards, small groups of kindergarten, first-, and second-grade students gather to discuss what they have learned.
Under the leadership of their teachers, students brainstorm ideas of how each might imitate this saint’s example in her own life. Children love hearing the stories and embrace the opportunity to emulate each saint.
