Great Ideas: Hard Hat for Hard Work

At our monthly faculty meetings, we nominate someone for a working hard award. Staff members use sticky notes to write about another staff member that did something outstanding or went above and beyond. We draw a name, and that teacher or staff member gets recognition and praise from the administration and staff.

All the staff members sign a hard hat that gets passed around. Then I read the notes of praise from the ones that were not listed. I then write thank you notes to every person that was nominated.

As the principal, I don’t always know or see everything, and each time I am so impressed at what the staff accomplish each month. It is a way to encourage and thank everyone for what they do.
