Learning the alphabet can be fun. I attach alphabet cards randomly to the classroom ceiling. Using a flashlight, I help children find given letters, match letters to sounds, spell their names, and sequence the alphabet. After giving a few opportunities using the flashlight on the ceiling, I turn off the ceiling lights to add to the challenge and the fun. Struggling students may be encouraged with hints like “cold,” “getting warmer,” etc.
