Great Ideas: Gems of Jesus

This Advent, remind children how precious they are to the Lord

Gail Harvey, a retired teacher from Queen of All Saints Academy in Brooklyn, New York, shares a powerful way to remind children how precious they are to Our Lord with this easy “Gems of Jesus” activity.

Invite students to choose gems drawn from a basket to offer Jesus in the manger. Let them research the history and value of the chosen gem so they can understand better why they are precious gems. Be sure to emphasize that they are far more valued as “gems” of Jesus.
